INSTALLATION OF AN ARTIFICIAL NAIL PLATE DUE TO MECHANICAL INJURY OR DISEASE

Reconstruction of the nail plate – onychoplasty

Nail reconstruction or onychoplasty (also known as nail prosthetics) is the installation of an artificial nail plate which is similar in characteristics to our natural nail (colour, shape, thickness, etc.).

At the Pedimed Center, we perform nail reconstruction using the NEC method, which was developed by a Spanish podiatrist. These patented micro-hybrid composites are easy to use and polish. They are approved by the European Health Organization, as they represent a high level of safety for use on the human body and are free of side effects due to their composition. Research done with microhybrid composites on humans shows no toxicity. This is also demonstrated by the use of composites in dental reconstructions..

Nail reconstruction with microhybrid composites enables quick preparation and application of the material, exceptional polishing and the possibility of corrections with sanding. It represents a good aesthetic correction that has long-term durability, which varies according to the condition of the client’s natural nail.

From our practice

Who is nail reconstruction intended for?

Onychoplasty is suitable for people who have non-exudative onychopathies without inflammation, such as fungal infection, psoriasis (psoriasis), nail deformities after surgery or trauma.

Onychopathies can be manifested by

It is suitable for women and men of all ages and races, since the colour of the pigments is adjusted to the colour of the rest of the nails. A free edge is also added, giving the nail an extremely natural look.

Nail reconstruction with Nails aesthetic composite (NEC®) can be performed by doctors, nurses, podiatrists and cosmetologists after receiving specialized training that provides all the necessary information. Training in Slovenia and Croatia is offered and organized by PEDIMED d.o.o., which is an authorized representative of the Nails aesthetic composite (NEC®) company.
